Electrically Heated Hoses are used in the transfer, loading and unloading of substances that require the  temperature of the medium to remain constant at a specified value irrespective of variations in ambient temperature which allows proper flow.  Our hoses are designed and manufactured to optimize heat uniformity and control characteristics using an integrated temperature sensor and evenly distributed resistive heating element. Years of engineering experience ensure the hose will maintain the medium being transferred at an even, pre-set temperature, avoiding hot spots or changes in viscosity, eliminating condensation, degradation and crystallization.

Heated hoses are used in bonding technology, filling and dosing systems, medical technology, chemical, pharmaceutical and food industry, extruder applications, and research & development. They are used for transfer of mediums such as wax, hot melt, grease, paints, adhesives, granules, food products, solvents, etc.

Construction

  • Inner hose  : Is in direct contact with the heated liquid media. Standard hoses are high-quality heavy wall Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) having a very low coefficient of friction to a high chemical resistance and a temperature range of -70°C to 250°C.
  • Stainless steel braiding  : Is required for high pressure use. Up to 3 layers of braiding can be applied to increase the operational pressure.
  • Heating element  : Is precisely wound around the hose at a constant predetermined pitch to ensure accurate and uniform heat density. Temperature sensor ensures accurate system control. Supply voltage is usually 230 V(optionally 12 ÷ 500 V). As a standard temperature sensors of PT100 type are used, type J and K thermocouples, though other sensors are also available, e.g. NI120, NTC.
  • Outer braiding cover & silicone hose end caps  : Outer protective braided / Hose type cover & high temperature silicone rubber heavy duty end caps for long & satisfactory life at high temperatures.
  • Filling  : The hose fittings (threaded type, flange type, Tri-clover clamp, etc.) at both hose ends are selected according to customer’s specification. We at Flexibles supply the electrically heated hoses with virtually all types of fittings available in the market.
